Sports and cultural show. Olympic winner Adamczyková will be in charge of the opening ceremony of the Czech House in Paris
Acrobats, Sokol Paris and the South Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra. The opening ceremony of the Czech House in La Villette Park will take place in a sports and cultural spirit with the participation of the Pyroterra art group, the AirGym Art Company acrobats as well as representatives from Sokol Paris. Musical accompaniment will be provided by a brass sextet of the South Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra. The programme of the opening ceremony, directed by Michal Caban, will be presented by the speakers Emma Smetana and Zdeněk Novotný. The doors of the Czech House in Paris will be officially opened at 4 pm by Olympic champion Eva Adamczyková. Tickets for the opening ceremony are only available online.
"I am really looking forward to the Czech House, this time I will enjoy it from the other side as a fan. I have never been to summer olympics before," said Eva Adamczyk. She herself has only the best memories of the medal celebrations six years ago during the Olympics in Korea. "What do I remember when I hear the word Czech House? Beer, bread, confetti, friends and the unique atmosphere," she added.
Apart from the Olympic snowboardcross champion, other athletes who have experienced its atmosphere are also looking forward to the Czech House. "No one should miss the Czech House, it is always one of the top places. Not everybody can go to the Olympic Village, but everybody can go to the Czech House and meet people who love sport," said the speed skater Jiří Beran about his experience at the Rio Olympics. The opening ceremony will also be attended by other sports guests and some qualified Czech Olympians who will not be attending the opening ceremony in the centre of Paris due to their competition programme.
Light installations and unexpected classical music arrangements
The programme of the Czech House on the opening day will be truly packed and visitors will experience a great audiovisual show, which will also feature the artistic group Pyroterra. "We can say that the opening ceremony is an exclusive premiere of the prepared programme. We have created several tailor-made shows for the Bohemian House, carefully incorporating the specific space of the Sauvage cabaret. Visitors will see full-fledged demonstrations of almost all of our artistic programmes, such as multimedia light shows, interactive video animations and a tailor-made light installation suspended from the ceiling," described Pyroterra's creative director Marek Solnička. It also includes performances by the Airgym Art Company acrobats.
The musical aspect will be complemented by the sextet of the South Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra, whose fanfare will accompany the programme in the Czech House for several days. "We have prepared unexpected and catchy arrangements of pieces from various genres," says Otakar Svoboda, director of the South Bohemian Philharmonic.
Not everybody can visit the Olympic Village, but everybody can come to the Czech House and meet people who love sport.
Emma Smetana and Zdeněk Novotný will guide visitors through the evening primarily in Czech, but translations into English and French will also be available for foreign guests. The director of the programme is Michal Caban, who together with his team is following on from directing the programme of the Czech House in London in 2012.
An exceptional opening ceremony experience in a friendly atmosphere with good food and drink
After the official opening and the artistic part of the programme, fans will be able to watch a live Czech TV broadcast of the opening ceremony, for which the organising committee has prepared an unusually spectacular parade of expeditions on 160 boats sailing down the Seine. Up to 600 000 spectators are expected to attend.
"I believe that this format of the Opening Ceremony will be a moment of a lifetime for all sports fans and the expeditions themselves. We will offer it live to the fans in the Czech House from start to finish in a beautiful setting of a French cabaret and a friendly atmosphere with good food and drink, as we always do in the Czech House," described the benefits of watching the live broadcast together with other fans, Tomas Houska, Head of Digital Media at the NOC.
Beer from local microbreweries will be on tap and visitors can also enjoy fresh bread or something from a wide range of Czech delicacies.
The grand opening of the Czech House will take place on Friday, 26 July at 4 pm. Tickets are only available online in advance and in limited capacity, and will not be available for purchase at the door.
